Hey Everybody,

Hope you’re all excited about celebrating our 250th birthday party for America tomorrow, July 4th, and I hope you’re all doing great!  Everything is fine here in Music City.  We’re staying busy, busy, busy promoting my new song, “Small Town Hillbilly Good-Time Saturday Night” and I hope you’re hearing it on your favorite station.

I don’t know if you heard the interview I did yesterday with Kelly Epperson at WPAQ/WSYD in my hometown, Mt. Airy, NC.  Kelly has always been one of my hometown heroes.  He said he loves the new song, and I was so honored by his comments.  We talked about a lot of things.  Many of you have probably heard me brag on my hometown if you were ever at any of my live shows.  It was such a great place to grow up, and I feel so fortunate to have lived there.  I’m sure many of you feel the same way about your hometowns, and that’s the way it should be.

Several people have asked me about the patriotic songs I’ve written like “U.S. of A.” and “This Is America.”  I usually just say I’m so proud of our country.  I remember working very hard on the recitation part of “U.S. of A.” in which I talked about our responsibilities as citizens.  I’m thankful for the freedom we have.  I think we’re blessed to live in our country.  Maybe it’s not perfect in every way, but what is?  Trying to figure out how to make things better is the way we learn.

Well, I’ve got some work to do so this red, white and blue girl, American heart and soul through and through is signing off for now.  Be careful and stay safe, be good to yourselves, and celebrate America’s birthday this weekend by staying high on life, like my new song says, and have fun!!!

Love,

Donna

P.S.  Thank you all again for praying for Saraa and Chad.  They are continuing to improve and they appreciate your prayers.

P.S. Again.  Thank you to Marisa for all my gifts.  You are so sweet!  I couldn’t wait to try this shirt on.  It’s so comfortable and cool.  I’ll probably wear it on the 4th.  What do you think?  And look at the beautiful flowers from one of my favorite friends.  Thank you so much.  I am so blessed.
