Hey to all of you joining us on this Friday Follies! I hope you’re doing great and enjoying the best of health. I appreciated your comments from last Friday, and I love it when you have questions.
Sharlyn and Gayle asked about the back story of a song I wrote called “Just a Friend of Mine.” It’s on my ALL ABOUT A FEELING album.
First to Gayle, I’m so sorry for your loss of 5 siblings in the last 2 1/2 years. My goodness. What a loss for each one, Gayle.
My oldest brother Grayson inspired the song even though I titled it “Just a Friend of Mine.” The only fictitious part about it was that it had nothing to do with long hair. It was just a line that signified the thinking then. Details in songs are not always reliable as far as literal meaning. They’re almost always mixed – often used to appeal to the largest audience the writer thinks he or she is trying to reach. I really like this song. It’s about my brother who was killed in the Korean War when he was just 17. I hate war. I’m so sorry he never knew what a future was. I never got to know him well because we were years apart in our age. My mother was never the same after he died. He was her first born. He had such a tender heart. I tried to express the humanness of death. The complete song is below.

I did two interviews this week with the personable and knowledgeable Frank Gerard of Voices of Country Legends and djs Makky and Brynn at The Swanky South. We don’t have the specific information so you can access them yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as we know. I had a great time visiting with them in Columbia last Saturday and on our video call yesterday. They are such great hosts and performers. And I have an interview next week with the Arkansas Showcase.
I hope you high fashion girls will order the cutest jean jackets with lace and the great heart bracelets and cross bracelets that we have on our websites. They’re perfect for your next “Small Town Hillbilly Good-Time Saturday Night!” We just love ours and thought you would too. So…just thinking of you and wishing you well.
