Hey Guys!
I hope all of you checking in today are happy, healthy, and safe. I love hearing from you with your questions and comments.
Vonnie, Clayton, Bruce and Sharlyn were talking about “This Song’s For You, Big Al,” but I just found it under the title “I Wrote This Song Just For You” and copied the lyrics below for you.
So here’s the back story: Very soon after “Happiest Girl” was a big hit, Al Gallico, a phenomenal name in the music business, was driving down a street in L.A., heard it and immediately called Larry Scott, a d.j. in Long Beach, and asked about the artist. Then Al got in touch with Stan and immediately got involved in the promotion of “Happiest Girl.” Al was really….I’d call him “Mr. Music.” He was involved in a lot of artist’s careers, like Tammy Wynette, Joe Stampley, Tanya Tucker, Lynn Anderson I think, and mine.
Al was the sweetest guy and I would call him an “encourager.” He loved music people, and hit records. He was always happy and helpful. He became one of our very best friends in the music biz, and Stan and I felt so blessed for his interest and help in our careers. It was definitely a joy to have him as a friend and music business partner.
Girls, don’t forget about the cool jean jackets and heart bracelets – also cross bracelets that we have for sale. Brenda, Linda, and I love ours and wear them with everything.
Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you…the song “I Wrote this Song Just for You” is on the Warner Brothers DONNA FARGO ON THE MOVE/JUST FOR YOU cd. It’s #19 if you want to check it out.
I also want to tell you how much I enjoyed our conversation in my interview with Roy Doyle and Jeff Riggs from Arkansas Showcase in Little Rock, Arkansas. They were both cool, smart, and good looking, plus talented. They kept me laughing the whole time. You can watch the interview at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE0RiAqtlNQ
Okay, before this becomes a book, have a fabulous everything until we talk again. You know I love you.
Love,
Donna
