I want to address the loss of Dolly before I continue this message. It’s so beyond sad, but we are so fortunate that she became such a big part of our lives. She was our Elvis and everybody’s friend, and like I wrote about Elvis, she will live on until the last life she touched is gone.
Beautiful! Wonderful! Dolly! She’s really beyond description. There are some people who you think should never ever ever die. And I don’t think she will. She was just so unique. Although she is no longer with us in the flesh, her spirit hasn’t left us and may never. Every time we see her picture or hear one of her songs, or learn of some good things she’s done, we will think of her, and tears will force us to feel how much she mattered to our whole being. She was truly one-of-a-kind, never to be replaced or copied. She shared. She gave. Such generosity. We can learn from her and by her example but never equal her. I mean it seems like it would take a new language to describe the vacancy in the universe without her. So smart. Amazing! Remarkable! Someone so special. A gift so rare. A talent so extraordinary and multi-faceted. We have been so blessed by her presence, and every memory of her will forever live on in our heart space.
Thank you, Clayton. Thanks for the hug. Yeah, the loss of Dolly is a “gut” punch that lingers and hurts and hangs like wallpaper in the confines of our hearts.
On another note, I was just informed that my song “Small Town Hillbilly Good-Time Saturday Night” debuted at #72 in Cashbox’s September issue. I love the number 72! Thank you, Cashbox! Hot Diggety Dog! I appreciate Cashbox and their reporting stations so much – you allow us to make new friendships where you play our music. It’s so important that people can hear a variety on the radio and streaming online (Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music….etc.).
I have to share with you that one of my very favorite people in the music business Robert Oermann wrote in his review the following, “The legendary Fargo kicks up her heels on this country party tune. She still sings with plenty of moxie and spunk.” Thank you so much, Bob!!!
I hope you’ll make your plans now to come see us on October 10 at 4:00 pm. I’ll be signing autographs and showing some new stuff we have when we’re at the Legends of Country Music Museum (2613A McGavock Pk, Nashville, TN). I am so honored by the exhibit they did for me last year. If you haven’t seen it yet, now would be the perfect time. But the fun doesn’t end there…at 7:00 pm the Donna Fargo Fan Club will have a “Small Town Hillbilly Good-Time Saturday Night” party at the Santa Fe restaurant just down the street from the museum (2520 Music Valley Dr, Nashville, TN). There will be a white hat auction (see picture) and some other surprises. I’m not sure what all Linda and Brenda have planned, but it’s going to be fun and we’ll have a little more time to visit there. There is limited seating at the restaurant, so please be sure to contact Linda or Brenda for more details and to let us know you’re coming.
We just got the coolest 5×7 stand-up print added to the store that I think you’ll love. I think positive reminders are so important. This new print is frameless but stands on its own. It makes a great gift, too!
