Hey Everybody checking in today for Friday Follies. I hope you’re all doing great and staying healthy.
First, thank you to our prayer partners for praying for Saraa. I’m sorry to say that she did lose her foot but is working hard to adapt to the changes that accompany such a dramatic adjustment. I’ll try to find out how her friend is doing but I thank you all again for the prayers.
And thank you to those of you who are telling us that you’re hearing my record, “Small Town Hillbilly Good-Time Saturday Night.” Someone asked about the party sounds on it and whose idea was it? Stan’s of course. He was really good at trying to add anything to enhance the potential enjoyment of each record. I wouldn’t have thought of that little extra cool but obvious thing like that. I’m so glad you’re liking it.
I’ve told you before how hard I try to write something for everybody, and this song may be the most “fun-feeling” one I’ve written. It just feels like a party and puts you in a good mood. At least that’s what I hoped for, and I’ve just been reading some comments that make me feel this was the right song to put out now. It debuted on Cashbox at 72, so we’ve got a ways to go, but I’m excited about it and I felt your smiles about it because of what some of you said who’ve heard it.
This week in 1972, THE HAPPIEST GIRL IN THE WHOLE USA album was at #1 on the Billboard chart. Ironically here we are in September 2026 and my latest single has debuted at #72! I am so blessed. And what better way to celebrate than catching up with my favorite people! I appreciate your positive feedback and support…it means the world to me!
Oh, and I almost forgot…Congratulations to Curtis Cox who won the auction for the framed reproduction of handwritten lyrics I wrote from way back when for “Happiest Girl.”
We look so forward to seeing those of you who are planning to attend the “Small Town Hillbilly Good-Time Saturday Night” Party on October 10th at 7:00 p.m. It will be at the Santa Fe restaurant on Music Valley Drive close to Opryland. Be sure to let Brenda or Linda know so we can reserve a seat for you because there is limited seating. Let’s have some fun…and don’t forget to drop by The Legends of Country Music Museum earlier in the day because I’ll be there signing autographs at 4:00 pm. Can’t wait to see everyone. I’m so excited.
