Hey Everybody in our Friday Follies club! I hope you’re all doing great and managing life to your best advantage – including wonderful health and happiness in this upside-down world.

Well here in Music City, CMA Fest week is in full swing with over 350,000+ people projected to be in attendance. On a personal note, I’m so glad people are loving “You Can Count on Me.” I’m getting so many sweet comments about it. The most common is “It just makes me want to move. I love it! So, thank you, Donna. Mighty fine!” And I just say “Hot Diggity Dog!”

Jennifer has been keeping me busy as usual. Last week we went to Opryland where I got to visit with the nicest people I’ve ever met at the Legends of Country Museum in Music Valley. I was interviewed by Scot England – he was so nice! And I also had the honor of meeting with Renae Johnson from Larry’s Country Diner and True Country News.

I will also address a few of the questions I’ve received recently. Brandon Neighbors asked me to share the inspiration behind the poem “I Prayed for You Today.”

I believe one of the best things we can do for people is to pray for them. When we’re sick we need people lifting us up in prayer. When we know someone is struggling to get through a crisis or resolve some problem, it is possible not only to help the person being prayed for but also help the person doing the praying. We’re actually giving energy to assist in the process of healing. Prayer is powerful when faith accompanies the request. The BIBLE tells us to pray for one another, so probably besides loving them, which the BIBLE also encourages us to do, praying for someone is a way to honor that person and also yourself. It’s another way to give to others and it won’t cost you but may be the best gift of all.

The card you’re referring to (I Prayed for You Today) is one of my favorite cards I’ve written. I even sent it as a birthday card, get well, or just whatever. It works for any reason anyone would want to send a card.

When I used to send this card, I would also say the person’s name that I was praying for and read the card out loud, so I was actually doing what the card said.

And Bruce Jones sent me a really cool Cash Box article from 1973 (see below), and he wondered if it gave me the idea for my “All About a Feeling” song. No, I was actually writing another song when I got the idea for writing it. That’s the way it goes with us crazy songwriters.

To “switch horses,” I can’t wait to see those of you who come to the Meet and Greet on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Have fun and stay safe.

Love,
Donna
