Hey Everybody!
It’s Friday Follies time, and thanks for checking in. It was so nice to see all of you at the event we just attended this weekend here in Nashville. My dj friend Joe Don Baker from my home state of North Carolina and his beautiful wife Bethany brought a group to Nashville on a tour bus from North Carolina. Some of you even flew long distances to join in on the fun of the Classic Country Fan Trip, and I hope you had a great time while you were here.
One of the stops on the tour was RCA Studio B. Ron Harman was the tour guide and music historian who shared so many facts about the history behind these walls. I was asked to speak about my own life-changing session that took place in this famous studio – the recording of “The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A.”
I shared with everyone that I remember being very nervous but so excited about recording in the famous RCA Studio B where Elvis had recorded. I was just a new artist/songwriter with a dream. We had no way of knowing if we’d succeed or not. Stan handled the production and all the other necessary details. On that same session, I also sang “The Awareness of Nothing” and “How Close You Came To Being Gone.” I shared with everybody that I was the girl in the song, “The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A.,” so it was autobiographical. Then I discussed the lyrics and talked about the meaning behind each line.
On Monday, we caught up with the group again and joined my country music friend, the very talented singer/songwriter Deborah Allen, and also newcomer Makenzie Phipps at the Inn at Opryland for a question-and-answer segment. Afterwards we all signed autographs. It was such fun! We missed you, Linda Cottingham, our wonderful teammate and fan club coordinator, but we’re so glad to report to everyone that she is definitely “on the mend” and sincerely appreciates your prayers over her recent bout of covid. She is dealing with some respiratory issues, but we know God is good, her health problems are on their way out, and she is headed toward a complete recovery.
We surprised everyone at the meet & greet with a new 8×10 photo and a double-sided lyric print of “The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A.” with the colorful Facebook banner on the other side. We’ve added them to both websites now, DonnaFargo.com and PrimaDonnaEntertainmentCorp.com.
Those couple of days were truly special – to see all the smiling faces and to hear their beautiful voices serenading me with “Happiest Girl” – how cool was that? The feeling was like a big heart hug and magic moment all wrapped up in one. Thank you for filling my heart with joy and sharing such a memorable flashback that brought us together for another sunshiny skippety do da day.
Until next Friday…stay safe, happy and healthy.
Love,
Donna
