Hey Everybody! Well, here we go and thanks to my Friday Follies friends for checking in…I hope you’re all looking forward with confidence to a happy and successful 2026! Can you believe it? Man, time flies, huh?
I’ve had several questions about the newest release, “You Can Count on Me,” my LIVE cd, and my novel, HEARTACHES & MIND STORMS, so I’ll answer a couple of them…
Question: Since you’ve written this novel, does that mean you won’t write your autobiography?
Answer: No, the novel is fiction, with totally “made-up” characters. I have always wanted to write a novel and finally got to it and did it. I’ve already started writing my autobiography, which is totally non-fiction; it’s about my life. In the novel, I wanted to see what kinds of characters I would create, so they turned out to be about the similarities of all of us maybe and how people react to real-life situations. One of my best friends told me that she could relate totally to the Deidre Leigh character and would have reacted exactly as she did in the novel. I really appreciated my friend’s comment, and it helped me to interpret my own attitudes about how we can help ourselves in different situations, what’s right and what’s wrong sometimes, etc, etc.
Question: What surprised you most about writing the novel?
Answer: I guess that I could almost see what the characters looked like. I think too I wanted to know what kinds of personalities I would create given the “freedom” a novel provides. It’s funny too how invested one gets in the actions and words we choose when we’re “designing” a person that we want to express as real. I think I trusted my “creative source” to set each of them free in a way.
Question: So what made you want to release a live cd?
Answer: Well, I found a copy of this live show that we did at Whiskey Pete’s and I thought people might enjoy it. You have to watch your speed limit if you’re driving while listening to it though according to Linda and Brenda. One of them was going 80 but thankfully no cop was around.
Question: How’s the new single doing? It’s #4 on Cashbox, so keep your fingers crossed.
Gotta’ go. Love you guys.
Donna
