Hey Y’all!

It’s time for Friday Follies, so thanks for dropping by.  I hope you’re all doing great and getting all geared up for Father’s Day this Sunday, June 21st.

It’s so important to let parents know how much they are appreciated.  I mean without them, we wouldn’t be here.  So whether you thought your dad was perfect or not, on this Father’s Day, tell him how much you love him and appreciate him for being your dad.  He taught you by his example and he probably passed on to you the importance of a love for God, family, and country.  I’ll bet you learned from him many lessons about life, hard work, and integrity.  He provided for you and paid the bills, sacrificed for you, showed you how to face disappointment and perceived mistakes, and these experiences taught you how to stand on your own.  This strong foundation most likely came from guidance and compassion that he was learning too.

As I wrote in the “Small Town Hillbilly Good-Time Saturday Night” lyrics, “In this real-life stuff you gotta’ hang tough and never let ‘em get you uptight.  It’s a matter of pride – you take it all in stride – on a small town hillbilly good-time Saturday night.”   Thank your dad for showing you how to “hang tough” and all that.  He probably did the best he could with the gifts he had to help mold you into the person you were capable of becoming, and his love made up for the times you thought he might not have been perfect.  I’ll betcha’ he prayed for God to help you reach your potential and be happy with your life.

Whatever the case, love him and thank him for being your dad.  And if he’s already gone to heaven, dedicate the day to thoughts of all the things you’re thankful for that wouldn’t be if he hadn’t been your father.  And if he’s still alive, tell him about these things.  He will appreciate it.

I love you all and hope you’re experiencing the very best in life.  I enjoy your comments when you get back to me, and I like to know how you’re doing.  So stay well, watch your diet, and put God first.

Love,

Donna

P.S.  I hope you’re hearing the new record on your favorite station.  And thanks to the djs who are playing it.
