Hey to all my favorite people! Donna here wishing you all the best of everything.
We’ve been busy, busy, busy. We attended the St. Jude Country with Heart Benefit on Saturday, June 6. They started the event by playing my new song and summer anthem, “Small Town Hillbilly Good-Time Saturday Night.” What fun….and I appreciated all the positive feedback. It really is a feel good, make you want to dance kind of song.
I got to see lots of people we were happy to visit with, like Linda Parker who painted her white jacket with DF stuff, sweet Becky Hobbs, Barbara Fairchild, and our friend Ricky wearing his cool hat WWDFD?
We also got to visit with Michele Capps, wife of the great musician Jimmy Capps, who played on many hit records like “Stand By Your Man” and was also in the Grand Ole Opry staff band, playing lead guitar behind the radio show’s guests every week up until his passing.
It was so special to spend some time with Robin Tanner who writes for Cashbox and also is the managing editor of CROSS COUNTRY MAGAZINE. I don’t know how she does all that she does. She is amazing and a very talented writer. I loved the article she wrote on Barbara Fairchild and Charlie McCoy, two of my favorite country music greats.
I did an interview with Brent Adams from Tractors and Troubadours podcast. It was also fun hanging out with Vonnie Watson, Steven John Fast, and Michael who did my display at Legends Museum. It was a treat seeing Mark Taylor again too, and handsome Mr. Rex Allen, Jr., my friend Charlie McCoy, and Steve Sandlin the auctioneer. David Wills was also there. We had the best time and it truly was a “Small Town Hillbilly Good-Time Saturday Night!”
Like last year, singer songwriter Bobby Marquez and Jennifer Herron put the show on for St. Jude. They did a fabulous job getting items to auction to make money for St. Jude and coordinating everything. I donated one of my hats for the auction.
On the saddest note…I am so heartbroken that we lost one of my favorite people ever in country music, Bill Cody. He will live in my heart space always. He was just too young to leave us now. Life may have stopped his voice, but not our memories of him. There was no one nicer than Bill. He was the most talented and the best communicator. I think he loved all artists, and his legacy will live on never to be equaled. We love you, Bill.
Love,
Donna
P.S. Don’t forget you can stream “Small Town Hillbilly Good-Time Saturday Night” on all major digital outlets like Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora and just everywhere! Keep those streams coming!
P.S. again. Please keep Dave Parsons in your prayers. He’s still having some health challenges.
