Hey Everybody! I hope all of you “happiest girls” and “good guys” are living the dream! I always enjoy your comments on Facebook, and I thank you for your sweet messages. You’re the best! So, welcome back to Friday Follies.
Just to update you, I had the best time at the Opry. It was so exciting and such an honor for me to be there. And to introduce Avery Anna who chose to do my first “smasheroo” was really a joy! She was so cool, calm, and collected, and she did “Happiest Girl” mighty fine! I look forward to hearing more of the songs she’s written.
I also got to talk to Tommy White, who used to play steel guitar in my band for a time, and now he’s a “regular” on the Opry. He’s such a great musician. Some of you might remember him if you were at some of the early shows. He started really young.
It was fun seeing Charlie McCoy again, too, another talented musician. He played on MY SECOND ALBUM and my ALL ABOUT A FEELING album. I was reminded too of his invitation for me to sing on his Christmas album called CHARLIE’S CHRISTMAS ANGELS. If my memory is right, I sang “Blue Christmas.” Charlie’s also a regular on the Opry. (The musicians at the Opry are wonderful.)
And I loved seeing Charlie Mattos again. He was the host. He’s on WSM in the mornings with my favorite radio guy Bill Cody. I was on Bill’s show, Coffee, Country & Cody a few weeks back if you’ve been keeping up. Anyway, I was kinda’ nervous at first, but seeing Charlie helped me to feel more comfortable and relaxed as guest announcer for 7/25/25. They even gave me a beautiful blue framed plaque commemorating my appearance, and it now has a favorite spot in my living room. I’m so proud of it.
If you haven’t already done so, take a peek at the August issue of True Country Music News! https://www.truecountrymusicnews.com/ Thank you Scot and Renae for the cover story! Also, I just found out my interview with Robin Tanner is included in the August issue of Cashbox Magazine which is available now. https://www.cashbox-magazine.com/
Okay, gotta’ get some more work done. See you next week on Friday Follies.
Love,
Donna
P.S. I want to thank all of you who prayed for Brenda’s mom. We appreciate you so much. Unfortunately, she passed away on Monday, the 28th.
