Well, hey there to everyone checking in with us today! My friend Ann Vaughn said we should change TGIF to TGIFF, meaning “Thank God It’s Friday Follies.” So if there are no objections, let’s do it! And thanks to all of you, I get to talk to my favorite people about whatever’s in my heart or on my mind or both, so I’ll start with thoughts about my new song that’s out now called “You Can Count on Me.” I appreciate all your sweet comments about it, and I’m so glad you like it.
It was most likely inspired by my belief that the best relationships probably become the best because they’re reciprocal. They’re complementary, whether it’s a love relationship, a great friendship, or even a special family kinship. I mean it’s based on a very “forever” kind of love and trust and commitment. It’s about deep and meaningful caring. It’s unconditional. You know it’s worth saving because you want that special someone to go through every day of life with you and to be there longer than “always.” After all, making each other happy is your #1 goal. It’s not about obligation or resumes. Love is magic. It’s the deepest expression of truth. It just feels right in every way. It satisfies the heart hunger. It completes every part of you that tries to suggest you’re not quite enough. It’s the closest thing to perfect when promises made are promises kept, spoken or unspoken. Love is about feelings of security that make such a perfect union that the joy is not even understandable. Love is just the biggest blessing there could ever be.
Do you think I love this record? It’s one of Stan’s very best productions. With what they played and sang, every musician and background singer expressed the feeling of love and loyalty that the lyrics and melody wanted to achieve. As the writer, I wanted to reach the heart, and I also wanted the song to make you feel good. I hoped that the side effects of it would make you want to play it again and again and again. And another of my desires for it is that it makes you smile and want to move to it. I think it’s joyful and fun. When you listen to it, allow yourself to feel the music and lose regrets; appreciate your life, your self and the person you’ve become. Honor your ability and desire to love and be loved if for only the three minutes and 12 seconds of cool that you get lost in.
I’m so thankful for all of you and I hope you’re loving life and experiencing the very best health and happiness.
Love,
Donna
P.S. As I mentioned last week, I did an interview with Carole Sullivan on Channel 4’s Today in Nashville. What an amazing host. I followed that up with a trip to RFD-TV and was interviewed by the incredible Suzanne Alexander. She is such a pro, the consummate professional. We also had fun talking to the best dressed weatherman in Nashville, Jeff Womack. This week, we had the best time at Channel 2 on Wednesday. Laura Schweizer and Stephanie Langston were so nice. The show is called Local on 2. We also got to hang out with my publicist Jennifer Herron and her husband, singer/songwriter Bobby Marquez. They will be the host and emcee for the Country with Heart event on June 7th. For those of you who attend, I look forward to seeing you. Although I will be there ONLY to sign autographs, they are planning a fabulous show. This will be a wonderful opportunity to help raise money for St. Jude.
We have just returned from the interview at WSM. I was thrilled to get to talk to the most famous country music DJ in our nation – the great Bill Cody – and his sidekick and dynamic producer Charlie Mattos and the very beautiful and talented Kelly Sutton. Love the new studio and I was so honored to be on “Coffee, Country & Cody.”
Thank you all for being such a special part of my “You Can Count on Me” media tour. I appreciate you more than I know how to say.
Here are some of the photos from the last two weeks.
