Hey to the nicest people anywhere – I hope you’re all doing great.  It’s getting chilly here in Nashville, but that’s all right.  I was just thinking…

In our nation, we are blessed with the opportunity to vote for our leaders.  That means every time the votes are in the majority, the winners are happy and the others are not.  Voting affords us the ability to deal with our differences.  Change is so healthy.  We can choose to embrace it and learn from it, realizing in a few years, we get to go through it all again.  Or we can waste our energy being upset about it.  But aren’t we fortunate to have a “system” that allows us to be a part of the solutions to our problems?

Just think, with every election comes new possibilities.  WE get to “stretch” our minds and adapt.  Each time we do this, we learn something more about ourselves and others.  As we grow older and become more mature, we learn that variety helps us navigate better around some of the issues we’re faced with.  WE can’t get our way all the time, and that’s okay.

The American people are unique.  We have inquisitive minds and free spirits to make choices – positive or negative – about our lives and about our futures.  WE can do anything we set our minds to.  WE have dreams that drive us to succeed and choices that help us to celebrate every victory.  Everything we need is inside us, and the desires in our heart and our attention to them usually determine whether we win or lose and whether we’re happy or not.  And you know me, I say if you’re not happy, you’re cheating yourself.  So I always try to find a way to be happy.  I like peace and not conflict, love and not hate.

Thank God and our constitution, we have the freedom to speak freely and to make constructive contributions when we can.  I’ve traveled outside our borders, and America is still the best place in the world to live.  Let’s be grateful and proud to call America our home.  WE are so blessed that we have such an amazing country.

And I feel so honored to know you guys.  Thank you for your friendship.

I love you all.

Donna

P.S. “This Is America” was inspired by the same American spirit that allows us to overcome our problems despite our differences.  We can do better in America.  After all, we are the UNITED States of America…so let’s come together and stay united. Happy Veterans Day to all who have served! We honor your bravery, dedication, and sacrifice. Thank you for protecting our freedom and making our country proud.
